We leave London behind and head to our first stop - stunning Canterbury. This historic city is renowned for its rich history, medieval architecture, and religious and cultural importance. Canterbury Cathedral The first stop is Canterbury Cathedral, the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury (Church of England) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An outstanding example of Gothic architecture, the cathedral is famous for its spires, stained glass windows, crypt and the shrine of St. Thomas Becket. Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most important religious centres in Europe. You may have heard of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, which revolve around a group of believers' journey to the holy land of Becket. As well as its churches, the city of Canterbury also has medieval streets, charming cafes, fascinating museums and galleries, and plenty of tempting shops where you can enjoy lunch. Dover Castle We then head to Dover Castle, a medieval fortress. You may have heard of the White Cliffs of Dover, but do you know the castle? You will definitely remember it after today. Overlooking the English Channel, Dover Castle is famous for its history and strategic importance. Dover Castle was built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror. Over the centuries, the castle was expanded and fortified, becoming one of England's most powerful fortresses. Today, it's a popular stop for tourists and film crews, and you may have seen it in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses (2016). You'll have hours to explore the castle's secrets and history. Quick Food and Beverages options and comfortable facilities are also available here.
