Head west to your first stop of the day – one of Scotland’s very beautiful and very large lochs, Loch Lomond. Here you can enjoy a one-hour boat activity* with spectacular views of the lake's many islands and the surrounding mountains. We then travel through the Trossex National Park, known as the "Epitomy of the Highlands", famous for its many lakes, mountains and forests. It is also the home of the legendary bandit Rob Roy MacGregor. We will stop for dinner in a small village in this beautiful setting. After lunch, we will pass through the town of Callander and pass the medieval Doune Castle. Then head to your next stop for the day, Stirling Castle. This site is one of the most important fortresses in Scottish history, sitting on volcanic rock and offering a great view of the surrounding landscape. You will have time to tour the castle and learn about the heroic deeds of key historical figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots. There are many interesting things to discover and experience at Stirling Castle, which is a must for any visitor to Scotland. Our final stop of the day is at the majestic Kelpies; these 30-meter-tall horse-shaped sculptures represent shape-shifting water spirits. Enjoy some photo time before returning to Edinburgh. Please note: This tour may be out of order. Some areas of Stirling Castle are closed for safety reasons.
