Loch Ness and Glencoe one-day tour in England

View all 8 photos

This is a unique Highlands tour departing from Edinburgh. Our one-day tour of Loch Ness takes you north west past the spectacular Stirling Castle, stopping at Kilmahog in the Highlands where you can enjoy a light meal and, depending on the season, may see Highland cattle. We then travel through Rob Roy Country of Clans MacGregor and Campbell, over the dramatic landscapes of Rannoch Moor and Black Mount, to one of Scotland’s famous valleys, Glencoe. Site of the massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692, we will stop in this poignant valley for photos and to soak up the atmosphere. Afterwards, our tour will continue along Loch Linnhe, stopping for lunch in the Fort William area. We then enter the natural beauty of the Great Glen, passing beneath Ben Nevis, one of the highest mountains in the UK. We continue our journey through the picturesque village of Fort Augustus before arriving at Urquhart Castle - where you can choose to join a cruise and castle tour (optional at your own expense). If you are not taking part in the cruise, we will continue to the Clansman Hotel, where you will have an hour of free Activity time. Here you can enjoy a gin tasting provided by Great Glen Gins in the hotel and receive a 10% shopping discount voucher from us [here is intended to visit local specialty shops, not shopping, you can also choose not to enter the visit, and shopping is voluntary, not compulsory], or you can choose to explore the area, such as the Old Coffin Road walk starting from the hotel car park. There is also the opportunity to join a one-hour Loch Ness tour and enjoy the magnificent views of Urquhart Castle. Loch Ness, 24 miles long and over 700 feet deep, is famous for sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, "Nessie." While at Loch Ness, you can choose to take a wonderful lake cruise. On the way back to Edinburgh, the Loch Ness tour passes through the Cairngorms National Park and the forested landscapes of Perthshire, including the Forest of Atholl, stopping for evening refreshments in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry on the way back before concluding in Edinburgh.
