Depart Edinburgh and travel through the historic county of Linlithgowshire. Your Guide will help you discover Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. On the way to Loch Lomond you'll stop at the Kelpies Monument, two sculptures of horse heads that bear witness to the horsepower that powered Scotland's industry. From here you'll head to the shores of Loch Lomond, Scotland's largest loch and Scotland's first national park. This is the perfect location for a walk along the 'Beautiful Loch Shores' with views of the mountains. This peaceful area was once home to Scotland's famous Highland folk hero, Rob Roy MacGregor. Wandering the paths around the loch, you will be following in the footsteps of one of Scotland's great legends. You'll then head to the Trossachs, or 'Mini Highlands', where the lowlands meet the highlands. Steep mountains, shimmering lochs and dense forests: this area is breathtaking. You’ll stop for Lunch in the heart of the National Park before continuing to the City of Stirling where you can visit one of Scotland’s most spectacular castles*. You’ll have the option of taking in the sights from inside the castle and learn why it is so important in Scottish history. From here the short trip back to Edinburgh takes you past the Kelpies again before returning to the capital.
